How NOT to build a kit - Part 2 |
|
In this section we will have a look at the main body. I have not done any work on this section yet other than to evaluate the condition of the parts and check the geometry. As you will see from the following pictures the body is twisted along its length and is being held in this state by the large body former that extends from the floor to the roof. The fault here is that the body was not square when this component was soldered in place. All of the folds along the top edge that the roof modules sit on are rippled so the roof will never sit flat against the body. Some grille work has been added and this is all scrap, it will never come off in one piece and is so deformed that it will be impossible to correct. Finally someone has started to paint the body even though there are still items to be added to it. I am struggling to understand the logic behind this move, it will not present any problem, a quick soak in cellulose thinners will totally remove it. The body will then require removal of all the grilles, cross members and under floor equipment. |
